Job Description Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team in Plano, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost and inventory accounting, with the ability to analyze manufacturing variances, support process improvements, and ensure compliance with GAAP, ASC 606, and SOX requirements. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting management with cost analysis and decision-making. Education & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant in a manufacturing environment Hands-on experience with ERP systems, general ledger accounting, and financial statement preparation Strong knowledge of cost accounting, job costing, and inventory management Previous experience with SOX audit, cycle count inventory, and manufacturing software Required Knowledge & Skills Thorough understanding of GAAP and ASC 606 Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUP, IF, SUMIF, graphs, and pivot tables) Strong analytical, reporting, and time management skills Proven ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality Excellent verbal and written communication skills PC proficiency (Windows XP, Outlook, Internet) Key Responsibilities Assist with the preparation and analysis of actual costs and manufacturing variances Monitor cycle count program to ensure compliance with established guidelines Conduct quarterly analyses on excess and obsolete inventory Prepare and submit month-end journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards Perform fixed asset accounting, including capital expenditure reviews, additions, disposals, and depreciation entries Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing budgeted to actual production costs Research and explain cost variances and product margin fluctuations Coordinate with Project Managers on progress billings and collections Prepare SOX audit documentation and support audits within required timelines Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely completion of projects and process improvements Develop and implement improved accounting procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency Safeguard confidential information and uphold ethical standards in all financial reporting activities Working Conditions Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment Willingness to work additional hours as needed to meet critical deadlines or during peak periods Company Description RPC Staffing was founded in 2002 as a firm that combines a hands-on approach with industry expertise and national reach.
