Overview

Were seeking a nurse with a strong background in wounds, ostomy and continence care with direct experience, exposure and certification preferred. Our Registered Nurses are integral members of inter?professional teams in hospitals and clinics that are committed to outstanding patient care.

Key Responsibilities


  • Direct agency?wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence?based policies, procedures, protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision?making algorithms.
  • Develop and conduct educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
  • Provide advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
  • Determine appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.
  • Recommend equipment, materials, and resources needed to implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
  • Perform pre?operative stoma site marking and ostomy education, and develop post?operative ostomy education and care plan for patient and family.
  • Perform related responsibilities as required.
  • Clinical expert in area of specialization, integrating knowledge gained through practice and education to respond intuitively to patient/family needs.
  • Lead efforts to strengthen organizational systems supporting patient care.
  • Demonstrate creative problem?solving, negotiate conflict, collaborate with others, and model expert communication skills.
  • Advance and lead evidence?based practices, participate in unit governance, mentor other nurses towards leadership within the unit.
  • Assist management in implementing changes to the documentation process and evaluate standardized plans of care using evidence?based research.
  • Collaborate with patient/family advisor council to develop standardized teaching materials.
  • Apply AACN Synergy Model for patient care, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and evaluate documentation standards, provide feedback, and lead changes when necessary.
  • Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned and orient staff or students in absence of a designated preceptor.
  • Balance clinical duties with administrative responsibilities, fostering open communication and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited pre?licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program
  • Two years experience as an RN
  • Valid, active, unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board
  • BLS certification (ACLS may be required in designated departments)
  • Certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months


Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Continence Care (preferred but not required)
  • Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care
