School-Based Middle School Special Education Teacher
Location: Gurnee, IL
Pay Rate: Up to $65 per hour
Hours: 35 hours per week
Duration: ASAP - End of 2025/2026 School Year
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team in Gurnee, IL. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will provide high-quality services to students with special needs in grades 6-8. This role emphasizes collaboration with general education staff to plan and implement individualized programs, including specialized instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver specialized instruction to students in a resource classroom setting.
Manage a caseload of 12-14 students.
Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure student success.
Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized education plans.
Schedule
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: End of School Year (EOY)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:40 AM - 3:15 PM
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
Valid Illinois teaching certificate as required by state/district regulations.
Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
Minimum of one year of teaching experience (preferred).
Compliance with all professional standards of practice.
Current CPR certification (if applicable).
TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable).
Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
